I built the '72 in 1986 because it would be
something different and cruised the hell out of it for 9 years. It had a mild
350 in it with a turbo 350 trans with a 11in Coan converter. 3.73 gears in the
rear toped off the combo. Also I added A/C and cruise because I like to be comfy
when I play. It wasn't fast but sure was a lot of fun! It was a regular fixture
a the strip and many GRSRA events.
As the front license plate stated in bold letters it was just for fun, and boy was it a blast!! I dated my wife Jane in it as she was accepted with open arms into the group.
The truck was used in drag races, auto cross events (I used the throttle to steer), pulling friends car trailers to the track, and just messing around on the street. I had a blast as a street racer member in the '80s and '90s and may return once I have something respectable on the street again. I may appear in a blue '64 Elcamino some time. I loved doing burnies with it.
